78' ignition wiring
I've recently had a problem with my distributor gear wrist pin coming apart and after I fixed the problem I found a stray wire laying on my driver's side intake manifold with a connector and a boot on the end. The wire comes from the same harness that the primary coil wires are and the little boot on the end is the same as the one on thepositive side of the coil, but it does not go to the negative side of the coil because it will not start if I do. The color of the wire is Tan with a red stripe. Also, (if it helps to know) that the wire comes from the firewall, to 4way gray plug, to the top of the motor through the ignition harness, comes out of the harness near the front of the motor, runs along the valve cover to the back of the motor where I don't see anything that it would plug into. I don't have a wiring schematic so any help would be appreciated.
