Im thinking of buying some 40" ground hawgs this spring for my truck but i know there not really 40" tall.Does anyone know how tall they are really?some say there 38" tall others say 39" tall.Im sure they will rub though seeing there 17" wide. But one thing i like about them is they last long.
Yeah, their 'true' size for a 44 is 43.6" on a 16.5"x12" wheel at 30 PSI.... Schya right, and monkeys might fly outta my butt!. Try 41 inches tall at 30 PSI on specified wheel. LIARS!!
wow i didnt know they lie that much about there tires.so if i wanted anything close to a 40 hawg id have to go with the 44" hawg and those aint cheap. Its to bad they do that i really wanted to try the hawgs.guess ill guess stick with the swampers.
I had 17x40 GH on a 15x15 rim at 32psi and they were like 38+" tall. THe tread seemed to last forever, still had plenty left when I sold them. But oh man were they a bear to change due to the weight!!!! I think the TSLswampers won't last half as long, especially if you ever run on pavement.

Yeah, I guess I haven't done too bad with my GH's (sure wish they were closer to 44" though) on wear. 17K miles on a 9100lb. truck and 3 still look brand spankin'.
Sure wish i could find some used decent hawgs for my truck.i always wanted to try them out.later.
What size do you want/need? I've got a set of 44's (41 inches tall) on a set of Weld Scorpio 16.5x12's with 8 on 6.5" lug pattern. 90-95% tread on 3 of them and 25%on the other. They're balanced and run surprisingly decent on the highway @80 MPH.
oh, ok. that is what i had heard. just wonderin cletus, why does only one of your tires have 25% tread and all the other ones are great? and does anybody know how GWs are offroad. they seem like they'd work well but ive also heard otherwise

The reason one wore out so fast is because it spent 17K miles on the right rear corner of the truck. Being that the tires AND the wheels are directional, it was way too much of a pain in the butt to swap wheels AND tires every 3000 miles AND have them balanced (which takes two days for all four because the tire machine at the place where I get them balanced gets HOT and smokes after every other spin-up). Besides, that one started out out-of-round and I figured that it was cheaper to replace one tire every 17K-20K miles than all four every 25K-30K miles since the right side of the rear axle is the one that's going to wear the tires out (driving wheel) and the other three would eventually spend some time there if I did rotate them.
I was looking at getting a set of 15/38.5.16.5 Ground Hawgs when I get my lift. From what you all are saying is it better to get a set of 40's instead? Or should I still get the 38.5's. I want a for sure 38 inch tall tire? Any info would be great, thanks.
