77 F100 Maximun Tire/Rim Size?

For maximum ground clearance, without modifications to suspension, what is the largest tire/wheel rim that I can buy. I plan to buy a set of steel spoked rims, in the largest size that will fit and put mudders on the rear. The truck will be used on a farm. Also, where is the best place to buy the rims?

Any help or advise appreciated.

Best regards,

fryoung

You did not mention if it is 4x4. I noticed at the magazine stand the other day that one of the off road mag's had a chart for just about all makes and models listing what fit's stock trucks and what would be required to go up in tire sizes.

Thanks for the info. I will check out the mags next time I make it to town.
The 77 F100 is a two wheel drive.

Best regards,

My '73 F100 2wd has 31x10.50 tires with 15x8 rims. They fit great with no rubbing, pics in gallery.

I will stop by the mag stand after work this evening and let you all know. I did notice that for f150 4x4's 73-79 the largest you can run and still have the suspension cycle without rubbing is 32x11.50x15. I have 33x12.50's and I have rubbing problems in the front.

i have 265/70R15's on my 2wd, no problems. they are about the same size as 31s. i would probably recommend 31x11.5 or 31x12.5 for the rear...those should fit fine, and you'll get more flotation. you can always go skinnier up front.

If you have a 4x4 you can check out Four wheeler magazine for the month of April. They have a chart that shows the max tire size you can run on just about every make and model as well as what is required to go up in size. They have a web site that it may be on but I have not checked. Oh the web site is fourwheeler.com Hope this helps...

This is from the site.....not from the April article.......it doesn't say for what vehicle on this chart. you need excel to download chart.
