hey guys, I was goin down washington blvrd the other night in my 77F250 460!! ha ha and this civic pulls up to me and revs his tiny little 1.6 litre engine and he really tried to race me!! well I wasn't gonna do it cause cops were all over that night but he egged me on so guess what?!? I did it and I smoked some RICE that night!! ha ha well I guess he's just not very smart now is he? now all of my friends are into this ricer crap and they think they can beat my truck?? what do you guys think, is it possible with a teenage budget and mommy's money??
What do you guys think??

 

depends on what ricer you race, you get involved in a race with a newer altima or maxima you can kiss your rear goodbye unless you put some serious mods on, but then on the other hand you can throw some 40" tires on the ol 77 and just run over the top of the ricer.

Yeah its funny, a lot of guys with the new 6.0Ls think they have the fastet thing on four wheels, until they get there buts kicked by a 4 cylinder honda. Its amazing someone would buy a truck to go fast.

 

90% of the ricers out there are really ricer wanbees. You run up against true ricer and you'll be wonder what happened.

 

I guess I really don't care how "fast" a ricer jams through those gears, a 4 banger blowing through a snip cannon has got to be the worst sound mankind has ever produced. In fact, Edited by Admin...read the Guidelines

Whoops! I'm not sure what I did wrong on that last one. To sum it up, what I was saying is that wether it is faster or not, a big block will always sound better doing it!! I personally do not like the sound of those import 4 bangers at all............Read the Guidelines and you will know, language!

Those 4-bangers, american or Import can sound quite nice with the right setup. Of course any Can style muffler and yeah it sounds Edited by Admin. And as soon as you ditch the cat..well yeah.

 

I used to think my truck was fast, well I still do, for its size. I think a lot of the guys that get them are used to the big trucks that are kinda slow off the line and take a little bit to get rolling hard, but with the right set up they can "feel" pretty quick.

With the 460 tuned properly, and good traction, you can do alright. But you are also pulling twice as much weight as they are. Don't feel bad if you get beat, like bigdaddy said, you can always just run them over if nothing else!

I dont think there is anything wrong with it either. My point is these trucks way over 8,000 pounds and even though they feel fast, there really slow compared to even a small 4 banger sedan. You cant expect a 3 ton truck to out accerlate a 2000 pound car, aint gonna happen without some serious mods. Now I do realize that there are some Cummins that are severly modified and will pull 11 and 12 second quarter miles, but they are really modified as much as possible. Hey race it, Im not speaking out against racing trucks, ive done several times, im just saying that trucks arent fast vehcules, there designed for pulling massive trailers and still being able to keep up with traffic, trying to race a truck is asking it to do something its not good at.

keep your truck for a daily driver and go find a ranger and dump a v8 into to go play with thoes ricers. make it a sleeper like im doing.
