Switched 10K Mod?

I've been thinking about installing the 10K mod (likely with 5.6K instead), and want it to be switched without any effort on my part. This, of course, will require an accelerator pedal mounted switch.

I considered using the existing one to drive a relay that would then do double-duty for idle verification and 10K mod, but that detracts from the computed reliability. (More parts = more problems.)

I looked at piggy-backing a similar microswitch beside the one that's there already, but that's more hassle than it's worth, as there's very little room at that specific location.

Then I got to thinking about something Kwik said about acceleration boost on the freeway on-ramps. I will likely only use the extra power produced by the mod when in WOT mode (I know, no "T"). It's MUCH easier to mount a second microswitch on the accelerator pedal to detect WOT.

So, instead of switching OUT the mod at idle, has anybody given any thought to only auto-switching IN the mod at "pedal to the metal"? Anybody know the reaction time to the HPOP's regulator circuit?

Your thoughts are sure appreciated.

good thinking

I have a clamp mod installed to a dash switch and it seems to be instant when I hit the switch... Seems as though that would work great... "way to think out side the box" (sounds like something your manager would say right before he tells you you arent getting the promised raise!)
All joking aside, thats a really good idea!

The R/T is instant, as soon as you flip the switch it's "on". The problem is WOT is where the resistor mod is least effective. Off the line and other burst throttle app's. is where the 10K makes it's money, but when you've got throttle pinned the HPO system is already giving all it can. You can't "trick" it into ramping up the pressure when it's already maxed out.

In some cases, like when the resistor is run with a hot chip, the resistor will actually make you lose top end power.

You are interpreting my "WOT" as being high engine RPM. I meant it to be indicitive of throttle position only, in this case, "on-the-floor".

If I understand correctly, I can leave the line with mild to moderate throttle and get mild to moderate (normal) acceleration, but if I simply "flloor it" from the start, it should respond much better than it does currently.

If that's what I should expect, that's exactly what I'm hoping for, to only give me a "shot" when leaving the line at WOT. I know, that's not exactly on-ramp speeds, but we have red lights at the top of freeway on-ramps here on the L.A. freeway system to control traffic. From the top of the ramp, ya' gotta' accelerate pretty quickly to merge with traffic at speed (if there is any "speed").

I guess my question now is: Is the HPOP pressure a function of throttle position or RPM? If WOT occurs at 800 RPM (as leaving the line), will I see improvment, or will it be the same because of throttle position (already WOT)?
