Is Dallas/Fort Worth a good area to visit?

I've been thinking about going to visit the Dallas/Fort Worth area sometime and I hear that it's a great area to watch the trains go by, the place where I like to watch the trains go by is in Saginaw (just north of Fort Worth), I also plan on doing a bit of sight seeing, go to 6 Flags for a day and maybe go to a professional sports game.

My in-laws live in Ft. Worth. I'm not a big fan of the area, but it's OK. Last time I was down there we drove down to the Pate Museum. It's worth the trip if you like old cars and old airplanes. Not very big, you could see the whole thing in 20 minutes if you wanted to. But it's also easy to spend a whole day there. It's free, but they take donations to keep it open. The Bass Pro Shop there isn't all that big, but it's OK if you've never been to the big one in Springfield. Billy Bob's isn't all it's cracked up to be, but there's a bunch of neat shops at the stockyards thought. There's usually stuff going on at the speedway frequently that you can check out. There are lots of things there that are "famous", but I don't find many of them to be as spiffy as legend would suggest.

What time of year would you recommend that I should go to Dallas/Fort Worth, TX as far as the weather goes? I'm thinking either late March to early May or mid September to early October.

I take it your a railfan...? If so, it's nice to see other railfans here! As I'm not from the area, I can't help you out with a good place to watch trains, but if you contact me via email I can suggest a couple websites where you might get some answers.

Hope that helps...

I don't know where you're coming from, or if you mind drivin, but Frisco is home of the Rough Riders, they're the Texas Rangers minor league team. They're some good fun entertainment. Since they're minor league they play real hard to try and be noticed, and they have entertainment inbetween the innings, it doesn't cost much, and there isn't a bad seat in the park.
hope yall have a good time

Okay, sounds great, my favorite railroad company is the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad although I do wish that Burlington Northern and Santa Fe are still 2 different railroad companies.

ANyplace is a good place to visit at least once. I have been through there a few times but never had time to take in the sites.

Yes, there is a huge water park in Arlington, on I-30, called Hurricane Harbor. Six Flags Over Texas is right across the highway from it also.

You can't miss a great time in the DFW area, grew up in Richardson, then we moved to west Texas. If you haven't seen Pat Green @ Billy Bob's, you haven't seen a concert. Texas is a way of life, let it get to you and no matter where you land, Texas will always be home.
