This light symbol just came on today and stayed on ,on my 2004 f150 4.6L motor.....It was not blinking just .....Anything i can do to check and see what it might be,,or is this a dealer only fix??????

 

Do you have any mods that might affect something? Check your manual under Troubleshooting.

 

this is a stock truck........nothing added to it......5500 miles on it.....Just got it last July

 

Take the truck to the dealer and let them fix it, it is under warranty.

 

Yes i know that,,got it scheduled for monday.....But was just trying to see if it's something simple,,and it stay may be simple.....

 

Well i guess it was the usual Computor had a fault ,,false fault??? I don't know,,they re-set the PCM and now the service engine light is out , for now....Can't a person just un-hook the battery and then re-hook battery to re-set the computors ??????? instead of taking it to a dealer???

 

Scrooge, Not a good idea to reset it yourself. Yes pulling the bat. cable will reset lights but then dealer says we can't get the trouble code off the computer until it's active again. Had this happen on my 04 Screw, took it in after resetting myself and they wouldn't do anything. Next day lit up again, took it right in and ended up with a new throttle body assembly cause they were able to read the codes to analyze problem. Mines a 5.4 though so don't know if its same issue but point is, you're under warranty, let them fix it.
