Purple- The picture was difficult to make out what the aluminum was. Did you have to remove the radiator support. It's that U thing that the original radiator fits in. I'm thinking about doing this one next. Thanks, you definitely need more pics to share with us bro. Smile!

Well I went and did it now. I ordered an aluminum radiator from summit. The width is nice and close to the stock width, but the height is only 19".
Im standing in the garage wondering where to start fabricating brackets. Should I wait until the sheetmetal is on the truck before I start, or should I mount the brackets to the stock core support? I can put things together ok, but when it comes to making something from scratch, I havent the faintest idea where to start.

I think this is going to be one of the biggest challenges of my build, I just dont want it to be more hassle than spending another $200 and getting one thats made for my application. I was also wondering if anyone has come across a gallery clearly showing someones radiator mount fabrication techniques.

Do I go for it?

Rich, congrats on the radiator. As far as the brackets, that's the simple part. Wait till the radiator comes, set in the engine compartment and see what would be the best way to fasten it. There are several methods. Sometimes only straight strips of metal will mount to the radiator frame and to the radiator. Or L shaped brackets. Do like do, stand there for about an hour and stare at it. Something will come up to do a nice job mounting it.

Thank you!
Just reading your post was inspiration enough to go out and have a look. Low and behold and idea! I would get crackin on my plan, but The compressor and a grinding wheel wont make my neighbors too happy at 11pm.

My next day off is Monday, and by that time I should have thought of and abandoned at LEAST 5 different options.

Thanks for the reply, and the inspiration!

does that 19" height leave room to mount the trans cooler below the radiator? Maybe a single mounting system for both pieces? good luck

I forgot to post the pic of the radiator as promised. Just getting around to catching up on FTE and buildsheet/photobook work. Lot has happened lately with the cab at paint shop. Will post detail in "Over the Hump" thread. Pic of rad in gallery. ( can't figure how to move it here ) ( go for it 4spd/Fenders)

That would be the one Boobzilla. Thanks. I am having another one fabbed in polished aluminum which I do believe will look a bit nicer against the alum radiator. This shroud is pol S/S.
