Question flathead V8 generator to alternator ('36)

Did I read it some where or is it true that an older 6V gen. can be rewired into a 12V alternator? JH

Quite a few of the antique parts houses sell a 'slingshot bracket' which mounts an alternator (usually a chevy one wire) onto the original generator mounting. If you want it to look original you can have your generator rewired to a 12 volt generator. Just today I found an ad in the latest Vintage Truck Magazine for an outfit called Gerer-nator that builds an alternator inside of an original old generator.Of course check with the vendors who support this site, but I think this is a whole new type of thing. www,Gener-Nator.com. Hope this helps, GB

Jon Henry,

Check out the FordFlathead1932to1953 forum. Lot of info about alternators for flatheads.

Just purchased a Streetrod magazine and they had an ad for an alternator built into a generator housing, so it would look stock.
