Unhappy Battery Charging Light On..

Help.. Have a 2002 F250 7.3l Turbo Diesel. Couple of weeks ago, my wife was using the truck and slid off the road and got stuck. She left the truck running close to 2 hours while she waited for a tow truck, it wsa pretty cold out that morning. She got it out but the next day, the truck wouldn't go. My brother put them on the charger and got the truck started and she drove it home and parked it. When I returned, I went out to try and start it, it turned a few times and died out. I noticed that the battery light was on. I removed the batts and put them on a charger(trickle) to full charge, put them back on and got the truck started. I noticed that the battery light was still on. Not wanting to run the batteries down, I stopped the truck. I made a few calls and was told that the Alternator must have went. I replaced the alternator, recharged the batts to full charge, started the truck and the light was still on. I have superchips installed, so I removed it and returned the truck to Stock...Light is still on..I did get a code of P0603 ?? I guess I could get some new batts, but I've only had the truck 2 1/2 yrs and has only 50,000 miles. I rarely use it in the winter as it gets pretty cold up here(-40C). Any help/suggestions... Ken from cold Manitoba

Check your fuses first. There are a few that are related to the charging system. I only have a diagram for up to 2001, so it may be slightly different. I believe, in 2002, they moved some of the fuses behind the glove box area.

On my '01, it shows to be #29 in the panel by the steering column and #s 6 & 20 in the auxillary panel. Hope this helps. Looks like if #20 was blown, you would have no ignition feed. Try checking the other two.
