1951 F2 questions
Hi Guys,
I am on the other 65 site as well as Slick 60's. I just brought home a 51 F2 6 cylinder stake body truck. Bed long gone but may have leed on where abouts. Truck is un touched and suppose to run with a battery. What do I have and what is hard to get for this classic . My intent would be to keep original and make it safe. I would like to find a picture or drawings of the stake body just to see what it looks like. As always, any help appreciated.

Well you're in luck, these old Fords are so popular you can buy almost every part you might need. On the safety side, a new brake system is a good investment IMHO. Several companies make a bolt-up power brake master cylinder and booster, and your front suspension can be upgraded with disc brakes and power steering if you want.

The big difference between '51 - '52 and later trucks is that all the body parts are unique, and these were relatively low production years. Body parts are not repro'd to any extent in steel, and (personal opinion) the body has more built-in spots that catch and hold water than any other year. On the plus side, they were a hugely improved cab as far as weather-tightness. Aside from body parts, everything is available and affordable.
And of course, they are the handsomest of the early trucks!
