Oil lines to remote filter leaking

I installed a dual remote oil filter setup on my 99 3.0L. I used AN 10 high pressure hose and fittings. The mfr website and the hydraulic shop I bought the parts from both recommended no thread sealant of any kind. They said to just assemble the fittings after a good cleaning, be careful, don't overtighten, etc.

Many of the fittings weep just enough oil to muck up the bottom of my left front undercarriage and drop about 3 drops a week on the garage floor.

I will be re-doing this installation in my Spring clean-up/tuneup. Should I use something as a sealant? I have both a silicone paste sealant and teflon tape.

You have to be careful with sealants on oil lines but I would apply a paste lightly to the upper threads of the fitting on any NPT connections. The flare type fittings do not use any sealant and will seal correctly if they are clean and tightened sufficiently.

Have you tried to give them a little more tightening? I occasionally do plumbing with flare fittings, and usually if there is a drip, I just tighten it until it quits. Of course you can go too far, and then you're screwed.

one other major cause of leaks with flare type fittings is any debris in there will cause them to leak so make sure they are clean, and for what its worth sealant in a flare fitting will also cause it to leak.
