Alarm And Door Locks Freaked Out!!!!!
1997 merc mountineer 4 door V8
after i had pulled out of the drivewat and started to drive off my door locks started locking and locking and locking.... i tried turning the car on and off nothing helped....
I thouught it would be a good idea to unplug the keyless entry/ alarm computer thats located in the drivers side rear 1/4 panel..... BAD IDEA!!!! now it honks at me and wont start.... door locks still keep locking.
i realize i created the second problem, can the alarm be reprogramed? do i need to take it to the dealer? and what caused the doors to keep locking? im assuming the locks are like a switch on the brakes or shifter.
PLEASE HELP!!!

Check the wiring in the rubber boot between the drivers door and cowl. I had to cut mine open and low and behold broken wires These wires get lots of movement and I found four broken or frayed wires. So many have broken and been fixed that I'm seriously thinking bout removing the fender and replacing the whole harness, unless evolution takes hold I get 18" fingers with multiple swivel joints, then I won't have to remove the fender.
I still get the random alarm, but yes, I looked at the harness and a black and white wire is now broken. And I believe this one is part of the door lock circiut.

Ben, I took a quick look at the factory wiring diagrams & it looks like you can yank fuse 10 (30amp)under the hood in the PDB. This fuse powers the accesory delay relay which powers the t-case shift motor, power seats & door lock relays.
Like Lou sez, it looks like a wiring problem somewhere. Do you have a good set of wiring diagrams?
The lock switches ground the voltage from the lock/unlock relays. Or a short to ground in one of the wires will do the same thing.
