Hey dude -
The 'Daisy is running a '78 351M w/Cruise-o-matic right now. I've removed all the smog crap, and just have a basic block w/true dual exhaust going through a pair of cheapy glass packs.
It doesn't seem so hard, you just get the aftermarket crossmember for that engine, and bolt it in. There's plenty of room in there for the 351M. The only prob I've experienced was clearance between the RH valve cover and the battery box.
Then again, my battery box is trashed, and consists of a 3/4" piece of plywood for the battery to sit on, and a black rubber bungee strap to keep the battery from sliding around! HIGH TEK BABY!

302 in a 1960 F100
I could be wrong, but from what I have read in the past the 302 and 351 blocks have pretty much the same dimensions except that the 351s have larger heads. Anyone???
In any event, I have a 302 in my 1960. The problems I have are that the lower pulley is really close to the front cross member and that typical rear exit cast iron exhaust manifolds interfere with the steering shaft. Also, the crossover pipe on the back of the heads sticks out too far on the drivers side and contacts the firewall.
I do not know if my engine is ligned up in it's best position or not. I would have thought that the lower pulley might ride above the level of the front cross member but that is how it is setup now. The truck was modified quite a bit before I got it. The motory mounts are angled steel brackets bolted directly to the top of the frame rails with a steel capped rubber spacer in between it and the engine. The transmission is a C4 from I do not know where and is held up by a piece of steel they bolted across the frame rails underneath it. It could be that the tranny is riding lower than it should and the engine is lower because of it or the whole thing needs to be set at a different angle.
In any event, head clearance is not a problem save if you have to deal with rear air passages (or just plug them) and you may need some center exit headers to clear the steering. I do not think the 351 block is longer than the 302 (but you should confirm that) so length is not an issue.
I will be replacing the engine and transmission in mine this spring/summer and will be looking to see if the engine will set better when I do.
Good luck.
