Stuck in 4WD

Stuck in 4WD
Long time listener, first time caller.... I did try the archives but ran out of time (40 pages), I've been using the 4WD on and off recently and last time I used it, it doesn't want to leave 4H. I tried to persuade her, but that was getting a little scary, so I unlocked the hubs and drove her home. I tried moving forward and reverse but she doesn't want to give it up. Millie is a '79 351 F150 with auto. Any help would be Greatly Appreciated.
