After driving about a mile, I had to slow down for a vehicle that was turning. When I pushed the gas pedal to go, I had no response at all. I floored it and nothing but idle speed. I noticed the little wrench light came on inside the instrument cluster. I shut off the engine, (after pulling over with my flashers on), and restarted it. Then I had throttle response, and everything was fine. Has anybody experienced this situation before? After 4 months and 6600 miles, this is the first problem I've had.
I've had that happen with my 2001 Excursion twice in about 40K miles, clears itself on a restart and then no problem it didn't leave a code in the computer for the tech to resolve the issue either time.
Thanks for the reply Industrialjunk. It did the same thing today, but this time the engine light came on after restart. Looks like a trip to the my friendly Ford dealer.
Thanks merc for the reply. The build date on mine is 03/04. I had to have it towed to the dealer today, and they reprogrammed the PCM. Service manager said he had seen 4 or 5 trucks with the same problem. Seems to be okay now, and hope that fixes it. Thought I'd let everybody know.
