C-6 Truck pulling
I have a 79 f250 with a 460 and a c-6, my 460 has been uped some but not a bunch, i have burnt the c-6 out of it.
I have been using the truck around the farm to pull a grain trailer and flatbed, but also got into pure stock 4x4 truck pulling, my truck runs good but while pulling i only get the motor to about 3500 at the start and when it finally spins out its only running about 2300 rpms, this in in 4 low of course.
my question is should i stick with a factory tork convertor, that has a stall of about 1800 or should i jump up to maybe a 2500 rpm stall, i dont really understand how it works anyway, so i dont know what i should do
i was thinking that if i wanted more rpms i need to go to a higher stall convertor.
well anyways thanks
Shawn
p.s. my truck has 4:11 ratio and 33x12.5x16.5 tires, and at that 2300 rpms when it quits it sounds like im lugging it real bad, but i think the best tork range is up over that rpm
