76 F100, identify this tranny by the casting #'s?
It's apparent to me by the way the shifter was cut through the floor board, and the way the steering column is, that this truck did not come with a manual tranny. The kid that had it before also said the it was converted, but I trust him as far as I can throw him, and he's kinda big.
It's a 4 speed, 4th speed being OD. Reverse is all the way to the left, and up, you have to pull up on the shifter to engage it.
The only identifying #'s I found were as follows:
RF-D7DR-7A040-AA
D12
L03
A number or two might be off, was hard to see through the grease with a flash light.
Just wondering what kind of tranny this is, and it's pro's/cons.
Thanks.

I don't know what the numbers mean. By the description, it sounds like it could be an SROD or one of the other toploader overdrive 4-speeds. Check out this site for more info: www.5speeds.com/toploaders.html
