'71 Camper Special

Hi, I'm a regular on the Aerostar site but new to this one.
A friend has told me about a '71 Camper Special for sale that was donated to a charity. Salesman was not on the lot at the time he saw it but the vehicles they have are all runners. It has a Lariet emblem on it, has a straight body with only a few chips in the paint. It's an auto and from what I've read on here, probably has a 390.
Asking price is $800 and they might take less. Rust should not be a problem, assuming it's spent most of its life here in N. California. Does this sound like it's worth checking out further? Thanks.

If it's a straight, clean truck thats a good deal. If it runs good thats even better.

I just bought a 72 F250 4x4 from a used car lot in N. California. This truck was also donated to a charity. I had it shipped to the East Coast as rust free trucks do not exist here. Where is the used car lot, I was not dissapointed with my truck and I bought it sight unseen.

jwrboss, the truck is located in Fairfield, Ca, on Interstate 80 about midway between Sacramento and San Francisco. I called the peson in charge of sales a few minutes ago and left him a message to call me.

I can get more specific about location (I know where it is and can drive there, but don't know the address), and can update you on the condition, if you're interested, as soon as I hear back.

My truck came out of Colfax CA. The truck is basically rust free but used. There are dents here there and everywhere, but it runs well and most everything works. Some items are just worn out and the seat has seen better days.

'71 (?) 250 Camper Special

I was going by a KBB printout they had posted in the window of the truck, which said it was a '71. However the Blue Book values it listed were for an extended cab, which it isn't, so the year could be wrong too, but I can't see it to check it out until Thursday.
What year or years would it have to be to be a lariat?

I paid a lot more for Bubba (see gallery). Sounds like a good deal. Even if the motor's shot, if the body's straight, realitivly rust and dent free it's a good deal. If the motor hasn't been rebuilt you might want to do it anyway since it was made to use leaded gas. If the motor's a 360, rebuild it to 390. It uses the same block and heads but you'll get a little more giddyup! Gas mileage will still be bad. These trucks have a big drinking problem.

"'71" Lariat is a '78.

My apologies to all. I saw the truck today it turns out it's a '78 with a 351. Apparently my friend got it mixed up with a '71 Suburban next to it (go figure) when he wrote the information down. To further ruin the day I had gone to the next town to see it after calling ahead to make sure the salesman would be on the lot, then after making the trip, called again when I got there. Still, nobody showed up after I waited a long time. So now I'll head for the right forum.
