New '04/Upgrades
I just got an '04 5.4 and I would like some recommendations on upgrades. I'm sure this has been talked about before plenty of times so forgive me for not searching for the information. I thought I'd try the quicker lazy way!
I'm looking for an better throttle body, air intake, tuner, and headers to start. Any other inexpensive bolt ons suggestions are welcome also. I don't want to tear into the motor yet so a cam isn't an option however 1.7 rr's might be.

Throttle body upgrades are not a waste of money. Throttle body spacers, on the other hand, are. I cant comment on an aftermarket intake kit, since I think the stock unit, when thermally wrapped, provides sufficient power and performance. Cat back? Thats all up to the ear of the beholder. Tell us what kind of sound you are looking for, and whether or not interior resonance is an issue, and we can help guide you. I run a Superchips Micromax tuner ( www.motorhaven.com) and I like it alot! It changed the driving characteristics of my truck dramatically. Headers.... well I dont know much about them on these late model F-series, but I can vouch for the quality of the Bassani line of products.

I have a 2004 f150 S-crew FX4. So far i have done many upgrades. I installed a 2.5 in daystar spacer lift for the front. All Katskinz leather. 2 Rockford Fosgate Power 10's with a power 1000 watt amp. Apline MP3 player for the head unit. Tinted Windows to match the rear. Hypertech power programmer. Flowmaster exhaust with 4inch stainless steel tips. 285 BFG all terrains (lift permitted 35in tires but 285 were big enough for what i do) mounted on Pro Comp Xtreme Alloy Bullet Hole Rims (17x9 1069 series) Next on my list is the Volant Cool Air Intake, and a Westin Bull bar. Hope my upgrades help.....

I went with the Borla Stainless Steel exhuast,
Airaid intake and the Superchips Tuner and haven't looked back except to see who I have passed. lol

Thanks for the feedback guys. Who makes aftermarket throttle bodies for the 5.4? What is the stock size and what size should I go with for an naturally aspirated 5.4 with free flowing exhaust and tuned PCM?
