Location of External Transmission Filter

Ok, I now officially paroniod. Can someone tell me where to find the external filter for the transmission? Looked under the truck but it is not apparent to me where it is. Wanted to check to see what condition the filter is in. Have a 2005( Sep 04) with a transmision build date of 04/08/04. No problems and 5,700 miles. Live is SC so no snow plowing or even any to ride in.

It is located by the passenger side front wheel by the radiator/trans cooler just beehind the bumper. It has a metal "spinoff" type casing. I wouldn't take it off unless I had a replacement handy. If you want to see the quality of the trans fluid, with the truck at operating temperature. Parking brake on and in park with engine running, pull the trans dipstick. The fluid should be red. Not dark and should not smell burned. Mine at 30K was still nice and red.

Trans Filter

Thanks - I would have been crawling around forever looking for the thing. Trans fluid is nice and red so may delay pulling the filter, but will definately have a spare around in case I can't stand it any longer.

I tow alot and am also the paranoid type.
I changed the fluid and both filters at 20k miles b\c of my insanity(hey i'm a LOOnatic) and after i put the pan back on i stuck some magnets and put them on the outside of the pan near the internal one.

Not sure if will do much but i do sleep better at night

Magnets? Are they for pain?

Will they pick up nails and stuff too?
