I know I can't be the first person to ask this but...What I need is a patch panel for the driprail area either a few inches above or immediately below on my 56 f100 (right above the windshield). From what i've found this model is notorious for rusting out in these places, especially in the more humid climates. So the question begs to be asked, How come no one makes this already for this popular year model?Jason
I had to find a donor cab that had no value except that the roof steel was intact. I cut the rusty stuff out of my truck cab and replaced it with a patch from the donor cab. My truck is a '53. I know the roof is different on a '56.
I got some photos of the roof transplant process in my gallery. Kevin (AKA Fat Fendered Ford) replaced his entire roof skin. I don't think there is an easy fix for this particular rust problem.
Welcome-
Midfifty sells a fiberglass patch panel for above the windshield on the 56. I don't know much about it but I believe a member or two here has used it with success. Glues in place with the new panel adhesive. I think mine will need some attention in this area so I may have to look into it eventually. Right now busy patching door bottoms. 56FUN
56 Fun, Thats funny b/c i'm also patching my door bottoms at the moment. Yeah, I've seen those fiberglass panel for the entire roof and a separate one for the roof and the back of the cab, but now we're talking more bucks. BUT, Have you seen anything for the metal between the windshield and the drip edge? It almost looks like its perfectly horizontal and stretches from door to door.

local junkyard has a rough roof panel that I could probably get for $50-$75. What I mean by rough is that someone stepped on the roof and dented it. I am just not very well versed in shipping large items like that. I am located in Illinois.
