I Found A 74 F250 Truck It Was Used By The City For Brush Fires, It Has 10" Of Lift That The City Put In And 38" Tires. The Guy Says Its Got Dana 60's Front And Rear, Is There Any Way I Can Tell If This Is True Other Than Door Tags? Any Info Will Be Helpful.
on the front axel there is a cap where the steer arm attaches, a dana60 has four bolts on the cap, a dana44 only has 3........also the dana60 axles have a 60 on the bottom right, next to the cover.......
hmm, mine doesnt have the 60 anywhere on it. i believe the 60 uses 9/16 bolts to hold the cover on. easiest way to tell is to look at the back, and look at the front. the pumpkins will be noticeably different if there is anything under the front other than a 60. also, if its a later 60, it will be high pinion, not the low pinion ones
.also the dana60 axles have a 60 on the bottom right, next to the cover.......
that may not apply to a front Dana60, i cant remember, the 60 on the front of my F-250 has a tag and thats how I ID'd mine......i know the rear has a 60 in that spot for sure though....you might have to scrape off some crud, i did...
yea, the only thing i had on my front was the tag, and the bill of materials code. i used the bom code and went to a site that has all that stuff figured out. thats a surefire way to tell if you have a 60.
