I'm about to order a DP from Tymar. I'm wondering how difficult its going to be to install. Anyone put one of these on a 94 thru 97 and can offer any advise? Can it be done in 5-6 hours? Thanks.
You should be able to do it easily in that time frame, you will need a saws all to cut the stock pipe out. You will need to cut in half at least once to get it out. Plus a 2x4 to bend your fire wall back a little in order to get the new larger pipe in.
I've seen where people say you need a port-power. I don'thave one and was wondering if an air hammer would fit in there to bend the firewall. You say a 2X4. You bent yours w/a 2X4?
Thanks for the help. I crawledunder it alittle while ago and couldn't even see the seam in question. I have a silver insulation 'blanket' covering the firewall. I assume the seam is under that. The unknown makes me nervous.

Your right. The seam is under the insulation. And I used a 2x4 also to do mine. Its a little tougher but it gets the job done. Some have said that they have used a scissor jack. That sounds like it would work good also.
Just break out the BFH, it will work too. I just ordered a 3" a few days ago, should be here first part of next week, I will have to find this seem too and see how it goes.

Like I said erlier, I just order one from dymond eye, a two piece, 3". Yes it can be done in 5-6 hours, mine took all of 3 to cut the old one out and put in the new one. What a P.I.T.A. that was!!!!! not only is there no room, but its TIGHT to get the new one in. I do suggest taking your hood off, alot more room, get a BFH, a long 2x4 and some beverages, a few friends over to help and make a party out of it.
the results are that it now has even MORE turbo wishtle, a little less flutter not much, and a whole lot at loud when you romp it. My friends say it sounds like and old mach with all the whistle, I realy honestly think it runs hotter now for some reason???? like only 50*-100* but I was able to hit 1200* alot easier, and it took a little longer to cool down to 400* when i got in the driveway, maybe I was just hot rodding it and just thought it was hotter. either way, it was fun, and sound cool so I am happy
