83' F100 XLT w/302 has not been cranked in 2 yrs
I just bought an 83' F100 XLT with 302 that has not been cranked in 2 years. I know it ran good before it was parked. What can you guys and gals advise me to do before I crank it? Following is what I have done and what I plan to do. Let me know if I'm missing something.
I have
(1)changed the oil and filter
(2)new K&N 3x14 filter w/X-Stream top
(3)glass fuel filter
(4)checked for old gas, both tanks dry
(5)new cap,rotor & wires
(6)new gas
(7)added can of Berryman B-12 and a shot of Marvel to gas
I will
(1)pull the plugs
(2)pull distributor to prime the block as much as possible
(3)crank engine w/o plugs
(4)install plugs and try to start
thanks/deven

I'd disconnect the fuel line from the pump to the carb filter and crank it up and let the gas pump out for abotu 30 seconds. This will dislodge any dirt from the pump diaphramn before it gets to the carb. Also, you might just try to change the pump since the diaphramn can get a leak and drain gas into the motor which would thin the oil and ruin the bearings. You dont have to pull the distributor to prime the block. Just make it so the engine wont start until oil pressure builds up enough to make it so the oil is lining the inside of the engine. Also, a compression test might help while those plugs are out.

Get a small container and mix a batch of treated gas using 2-cycle oil. Then feed some though the vent holes in your mc 2150 carb. then after you do this hit accelerater while looking down throat. just to see if theres a stream off gas. You want it to start up fast without cranking to much.
