Behind the passenger side rear seat or on both sides where the jack is and storage area, did you look good, for the key?
I actually didn't get a jack, handle or tire iron when I bought the truck, I had to go to the junkyard and get it. The plastic pouch for the spare tire key and the card with the key code were in the glove box, but no key. My truck is actually an F350 so the stuff isnt in exactly the same place, but I did look for it.

At least you got a way around the issue.
At over 18,000 hits on this thread, there must be a lot that have some issue, as well, with it.
Good luck.

What does the tag look like? Can it be used to buy a replacement key from McGard?

This is all the 'tags' that came with my used 2005 F-250, nothing like a socket. I had to buy the tool kit under the back seat, did have the jack but no handles. I didn't realize there was a key needed until I wanted to check the air in the spare this weekend and couldn't get the tire down!

I did find my keypad code on the big tag on the bottom, I covered it with one of the little tags.

Just call around to some parts places (you can google the place to call in your area) and they are so used to this problem and they should let you use their master & then order the correct key for $20. I called 1 place & it was way easier than anything else I found searching the internet for 2 hours & they sold it to me right there on the spot. No big deal.
