d44 TTB knuckle swap

Hey everyone.

I have a quick question...

I have an 89' F-250 with a D44 HD front axle. I also have an F-150 with a lighter duty D44 TTB.

One is 8 lug (the F-250's) and the other is a 5 lug. What I'm wondering, is if I can swap the knuckles/brake calipers between the two trucks. Will the knuckle from the HD D44 fit on the LD d44?

I want to convert my F-150's rear axle to a 10.25, and make the front axle 8 lug to match. The TTB will have to reside under the front of the F-150 'til I get a larger axle.

Thats a good question, Justin. I will be watching for an answer too as i am going to the solid axle swap and would like to upgrade the rear axle to 3/4 or 1-ton status.
good luck

Yeah that's basically what I'm doing. My F-150 is getting a 400hp engine and I need stronger axles. The ZF is about to go in it, a 10.25 will be a summertime project, and the d60 up front will probably be awhile, so I'll stick w/ the TTB and keep my foot out of it when in 4wd til the D60 is up front...but the 10.25 is going back there soon so I want the front to have 8 lugs too.

sounds like it will be SWEET!

On a side note, you could always run around town like a guy here that has a 8 lug rear and the LD TTB d44 on front of his F150. I made a double take the other day, then realized what I had seen was real!

They don't mix. You need to use Chevy parts to do th e8 lug swap on the 150 d44ttb. Check these out and see what I mean. I ended up putting in leafs and a d55ttb due to being unable to find the Chevy axle under a grand here.
