460 swap in progress.HELP
I finally got the 460 into my 79 150 4x4, and am having problems finding headers for it. I have a set of hooker super comps for a 77 and older f-250 that had the collectors cut down to supposedly clear the cross member. Problem is they dump about 2 in in front of the crossmember with no chance of building an exhaust. Does anyone here know of alternatives to l&l, hooker, hedman or stans for a decently priced header? I know flowtech has a header for the 80-83 model with 460. Anyone know if these will fit?

Howdy Slappy,
I don't know of any other vendor, but I know my L&L's exit ~below~ the cross-member and fit rather nicely; takes about 20 seconds to drop the starter compared to cheaper headers....

Thanks for the reply. I have pretty much decided to bite the bullet and go with the l&l chasis exit 3/4 length. Although I don't know anyone that has used these. Hopefully there is ample clearance to get to things like trans linkage and proportioning valve.

Got my LandL 3/4 lenght headers for $390 from ntwonline. They pretty much go straight down on the left side and they go straight back over the starter on the right. they seem to be designed to fit good without interfearing with anything else.
