Got CASH???? LOL!!!!

Neat pieces, but not made for any kind of HP applications. They tend to start spitting out half shafts......

It should hold up just fine. They are a pretty tough rear end, I have seen guys use them in big block powered MG's and Triumphs, so they should be able to handle a truck. You have to remember, Jag used the same rear on all their cars, so if it can handle a 5300lb full size car being shoved around by a v12, it shouldn't have any trouble in a v8 truck.
4cam, are you going to do a Mustang II front end too, or leave the twin I beam?

IRS Jags were/are the cat's meow for "street is neat" and they do acceptable well in the,"yeah punk, you wana run?" catagory too.

A well set up and located Jag will easily deal with about any 302, most 351's and all FE's that are stock compression. Probably more from an automatic than a 4spd, etc, but I'd bet they could take more - it just, I hates fixxin my toys after they break - and the ol lady has such a hissy anymore.

If racing is part of the plan - go 9-inch, if some car shows and crusises are in the plan - and ya got some extra bucks and time. Inboard discs? There goes the brake bias - no biggie - might want shoulder belts then too! lol

IRS jags look REALLY sweet all chromed out, springs should be available for most applications - it's not likely your going to be hauling trash and scrap metal in the truck anymore - but with overloads, I guess all things could be possible

I just pulled a 9" out of a 74 F-100 w/ a 352 auto C-6 , it had the good rear 3rd member & 31 spline axles I could use a 4.88 gear in that 3rd member but will use 3.73 gear & i'm going to try using a mini spool thay are cheep to get posi. traction. I set up my own 3rd members so I save on labor & I used to change these in 45 mins. that includes jacking & oil & on the road but now I figure to do it in 1hour 30 mins. ,30years will make a big diff.

nova, saw your request, if i get a chance this weekend i'll get out and take some more detailed pics of what i did on the rear and send them to you. it looks involved but it really wasn't that bad. just a lot of measuring.

I am looking at it as the strength issue. Yes, they power big Jag's around with V12, but not a big block truck and possible hard launches. There is definitely a difference between a IRS and a solid axle. Don't see many drag cars with IRS???

Some people get away with it, but if you plan on abusing it constantly I would stay away from it. Just more pieces to break.

For show, it's perfect.

well its not gonna be a drag truck, but i wouldnt mind running it through the paces a couple of times, i think that for my purposes it could work, that doesnt mean my wallet is goin to accept it though

Hey freight train, not trying to cause hard feelings with my statement. had a few jags and have played with more than a few and just haven't been able to bust one up yet that is unless it already had problems to begin with. i do agree with the idea of a solid axle over a independent for racing applications though.

No problem. I'm surely NO expert on Jags. I just know alot of people that have used theirs up more than once. I know for occasional blasts it will last forever. I'm just used to heavy vehicles and lightweight parts=breakage. I play it safe anymore. I used to bust up 28 spline stuff in my '69, so I eliminated that with 35 spline spool/axles. A big block/4 spd will do things like that.

The Mustang Cobra use to have IRS, then they finally switched it back to solid. More guys drag racing them then road racing.
