What to offer for truck?

Hey everyone! I have a neighbor who's dad has an 86 F-150 4x4 with a 302 auto transmission for sale. The truck has a trailer towing package also. The truck runs great and is great mechanical shape. The interior is in good shape also but the body has some rust problems. There are spots over the wheels that are rusted through and a couple of dents in the sheet metal.
I want a used 4x4 to take to my g/f's place and go fishing in some ponds behind her house. There is 260 acres to explore but have to drive through over grown roads to get to them.
He's asking 1500 for the truck, but may take less so his son tells me. The truck has over 100k miles for sure so I'm wondering if 1500 is a fair price or should I offer a little less?
This truck will only be used for riding that back country although it is street leagl now.
Any comments or suggestions?
Thanks.

offer 1100
and see if he takes it
he probally will haggle up to 1200.
But that's a great deal
Make sure the 4X4 works and run it up to temp and check the oil pressure.
