92 Explorer overdrive question
I have a 92 Explorer Eddie Baurer, 4L with 220,000 Km, automatic trans. A couple of weeks ago at highway speed (120 Km) in overdrive the engine would run at about 2100 RPM. Then for no reason it would feel like a shift out of overdrive, the rpm would rise to 2800 rpm but I would begin to loose speed... this happens with the cruise control on as well. I have to kick it into a lower gear with the gas pedal and get back up to speed. Fluid is full, changed about 10,00 Km ago, looks clean and smells like tranny fluid - not burnt...
Any ideas? Is it a tranny problem? How do I tell if its a calalitic converter?
