Ford Shelby GR-1
#48
Well, I found a little info out about the GR-1 at the NAIAS this week. According to Ford, the projected weight is, get this, 3900 LBS!!!!!
I don't care how many horsepower this thing has, if it weighs 3900 lbs, there is no way it'll ever be able to compete with the Z06 or Viper. Maybe in acceleration, but in terms of all around well balanced performance, that land yacht wouldn't stand a chance.

I should have stated designed by not just reference his name being tied to the car.

Fair enough........but I gaurantee there aint much being designed by an 80 year old heart transplant recepient(sp?) Even the series one (which is built in Vegas, been there many times) basically is using the Shelby name. He does show up @ PR events occasionaly and will scare people when he powerslides an original AC Cobra outta the parlking lot narrowly missing parked cars AND people!!!!

The GR-1 was designed by some engineer at Ford and the whole project was overseen by J Mays. There was a show on TLC that documented the whole process of drawing to model to fiberglass. I don't even think that it had anything functional in it. They didn't even show Shelby until the last 10 minutes of the show.
