Sorry, I was a little off base, I was thinking of the Shelby Series One and not of the S-7. But just to add another question is that 7 liter V-8 in the S-7 made by any one particular company or is it a custom made thing. Just Curious! Back to my post above It was the Series One that I beleived to have a GM based Engine. Not positive but pretty sure. Some one set me streight if I'm wrong please.

The S-7 is exculsively built by Saleen. They are hand built I believe so they are both made by one company and custom built.

Actually, the Cobra R (at least the 2000 model) doesn't have a solid rear axle - it has an independent rear suspension. IIRC, it pulls something like 1.02 g on the skidpad...about equal to the Viper, and a little better than the Z06.

I seen that the 2003 S-7 is sporting a beefy 427ci. That's 10/18mi. city/hwy. It looks nice. Don't know about the 2004/05.

Yeh, I've got nothing against the Vette or Viper but the 2000 Cobra-R was truley an amazing car. If it would've only had like 500hp instead of the 385 it came with it would have made more of an impression with the non-mustangers.
Handling was good and as I said before a 4.4sec 0-60 isn't bad for a car with only 385ponies. I don't know all of the specifcs of it but the stats show it to be true to it roots as street legal race car.

The S7 uses a 427 ci motor based upon a Windsor block that is then modified by Saleen enough to where it's classified as his own. The new model has horsepower increased to 575.

That's a nice looking, a little to expensive at $350,000. I'd buy a house for that price.

The Series One uses a 4.0L DOHC Oldmobile v8 that originally came in the Aurora.

F-Deuce50, the new viper goes 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. The new vette (z51, not the Z06), goes 0-60 in 4.4 seconds. Old Z06 was 0-60 in 4.3 seconds.

Thats what I thought the series one had but didn't want to quote it and be wrong. I know the Olds Aurora moves pretty good. Nothing like the series one but as a some what performance orianted luxury car it'll hold it's own.

Like I said before, Shelby seems to work with everybody but his strongest ties seem to be with ford. kinda wonder why he didn't use a blue oval motor in ther series one. I'm sure he would have no problem tooling one up. It pobably comes right down to politics and $$$$$$ like every thing.

I would certainly say by the numbers the Cobra-R shows it has the goods, well for a 2000 model anyway. we are talking about a five year old car. maybe we should bring the supercharged Shelby Cobra (can't remember what year, late 60s???) into the mix since it was an elite in it's day. I'll have to do some searching to find out the stats on it though.

Heck, the SRT4 (a turbo'd Neon) does 0-60 in 5.4 for under $20k. Add the $2k stage 3 (bigger turbo) and it's even less. Handles real well, too.

I don't know how you figure the Z06 is better. I mean .1 sec 0-60, come on that can be found in just the difference in atmospheric conditions at the time of testing. Seems pretty dang close to me. but I don't want to go here again, been here done that. Does anybody else no anything about that supercharged Cobra?? I watched the something about it on speed vision some time ago, this is the only thing I could find on it. the artical is the same as the tv commentary about it, they also talk about it and the military boys. heres the article--

what do ya guys think of this, 700+ HP, now thats what I'm talkin about, thats really something since it dates to around the 69' year.

LoL.

The SRT-4 isn't a bad idea if ya think about it. People buy these little 4 bangers and turbo, NOS, and supercharge them up right? So Chrysler said, "hey, lets give these guys something like that right from the factory" Kinda like the Jeep Rubicon. Instead of buying a TJ and doing all the work, you can buy one off-road equipped in the Rubicon package. Brilliant ideas if you ask me.

Oh, that firepower is a rip-off off the GR1. Chrysler won't produce it anyway. Just a show car. They did release new pics of the Charger though. Shes lookin good. I love the new musclecar era we are in now. Competition driving each other to do better. Lovin every minute of it.
