Question Help! Clutch for my 460 and ZF

Hi,
I'm swapping transmissions from a C6 to a ZF 5-speed, and I'm having trouble finding the right clutch. I'm using a McLeod flywheel that accepts an 8-bolt pressure plate with 14 1/8 diameter bolt pattern.

The clutch I bought from Centerforce (for a 91 F350) has an 8-bolt pattern, but it is 13 5/8 diameter.

Do I need a pressure plate for a 93+ F350? I read somewhere that they use a slightly larger clutch... maybe it's a 14 1/8 pressure plate pattern? I haven't got an answer from Centerforce yet, and I'm just trying to avoid any more expensive mistakes.

Thanks in advance
Scott

What is the disk diameter ?

Most 460 powered trucks used a 12" clutch disk for the newer trucks but when I did my 77 conversion took a automatic (FMX) out and bolted in a NP435 using a 390 flywheel and clutch with a 351m bellhousing with a 11" clutch.

I hope you are not trying to use a industrial engine clutch and flywheel in a automotive bellhousing because it doesn't work.

Hey Kenworth,
Thanks for the reply. I'm trying to use a 12" disc. The ZF transmissions used up to a 12.25" disc, and I'm starting to think that my flywheel is made for the 12.25." My engine is a fuel-injected 521 and will make a lot of torque, so I'm going for the best clutch / flywheel combination I can find.

The flywheel is not for an industrial engine. My problem is that I started with all aftermarket parts and I don't know what the stock pressure plate bolt pattern is. I'll make a trip to the Ford dealer - maybe they have a pressure plate that I can measure. Centerforce and McLeod have been no help.

Thanks,
Scott

I highly recommend contacting clutchmasters in colton, ca. They have been around for many years (been buying clutches from them for 20+ years myself), for all oem and race applications in many variations. Excellent prices, typically 1 day service and their products have always worked right the first time, every time.....never a component failure either.

That's funny byron. Girlfriends come and go, but trucks are forever!

Thanks for the replies so far.
