I think it's cool that you can still get a no frills, no nonsense go to work car these days. I've got a truck and a hot rod, don't need luxury in my cheap on gas go to work slogger. Just need to find one used for cheap.

But if you could get it for free, you'd take it, right? Toyota gives you a cheaper price and more power with more options. If you want roll up windows, you can get the CE Corolla for around $11k. IMO, nothing's more annoying than having a hot day and you have to reach into the back seat to roll down the rear windows because you don't have a/c.

Cheapest msrp on a corolla ce is 13,680.
Cheapest msrp on a civic dx is 13,160.

Not flaming you, I just don't see the $11k to be accurate.

Yeah, but that's with A/C for the Corolla, you can't get a Civic DX with a/c--even as an option. You have to get an LX Civic for a/c. The DX also lacks power mirrors, which the Corolla has. Also, the DX civic only comes in a manual. If you want the civic auto, invoice is $13,826.63, retail is $15,075.00. The Corolla manual invoice is $13,192.00, retail is $14,220.00. The automatic Coralla is invoiced at $13,932.00 and retails at $15,020.00.

The $11k was what I remembered from shopping for my sister's Corolla last summer. She got a Corolla LX with 7.2 miles for $13, 999. Kind of funny that it was built in Long Beach, trucked 300+ miles up here, then she drove it 300+ miles back to Long Beach because that's where she lives.

I like both Toyota and Honda, and think they are equal in quality, and I like the way Toyota's cars look a little bit better, so I'd go with them, most likely. My point is, I respect them both. I'd also go with a mid-size car, as the compacts are way too small. Problem is, they are all FWD! I hate FWD! If they made a RWD version of a Camry or an Accord with the 2.4L 4 Cyl. engine and a 5 speed, I wouldn't have to go out and buy one, 'cause it would already be in my driveway! Stock, steelie wheels, touring tires, H.D. suspension, I'd have two hot rods then. The daily driver and the Olds for the weekend jaunts to places 500 miles from home.

I don't know about the new models but I also have a 95 Civic DX and it has A/C.

No, not on the new DX. Heck, you can't even get the new DX with an auto. Check out the kelly blue book website.

According to the Honda website A/C is an option on a DX but an auto tranny is not. I wouldn't want an auto anyway. I like the manual in my 90 Civic far better than the auto in my 95 Civic.

A/C on a DX Civic or Accord is available as a dealer installed option from Honda.

Dealer installed option. That's the key. "Dealer". Not from the factory. You cannot order a DX Civic with a/c. You have to have it installed.
