you can swap a disc set up from any 73 to 79 onto these trucks. its easiest to get a donor truck and use all you can, its also easier to just swap the whole ibeam setup rather than the spindles. do a search and you can find some tech articles that will help with the info.

These guys have the rear brakes covered, and conversions for older ('56 and back) trucks, and 9" conversions, but don't list your year.

You can contact them and ask for advice, go to:

http://www.ssbrakes.com/

The only other is a lock stock and barrel swap over from a later truck--probably axles and all to make it easy.

Good luck. Always glad to see folks upgrading brakes, vs. the posts that say "I want to go faster".

MP (Masterpower) Brakes have great bolt-on setups. The entire kit or separate parts are available. I'm thrilled with my setup.

isn't the master power brake kit about 900 dollars though? you could get a parts truck for much cheaper and requop some of you money selling what you don't need.

Masterpower (MP) Brakes has an excellent set-up. I'm thrilled with what I have going using one of their kits. You can buy some or all of what you need and they have a great tech service.

True on the junkyard stuff, and thats how I do stuff but not everyone has the ability to do it that way. It works for this po-boy but some guys like bolt-on brand new and they are willing to pay for it.

btw, I used MP Brake stuff at the spindle but used the truck boneyard stuff for the mastercylinder and pedal assembly etc. The spindle parts--rotors, discs and all important mounting plates, etc ran less than $300 from MPBrakes. I fab'd up the lines and in-line hydraulic valves. It was very economical and very reliable to do it that way.
