56 F100 firewall power brake setup

I just finished a similar conversion including hanging clutch, gas pedal and emergency brake pedal. Check out my gallery for pictures and my "some more progress" topic. One issue I found I needed to deal with was the booster mounting. It needed to stand away from the firewall so it wouldn't interfere with the lip of the firewall or the fender rod brackets. You should be able to use all your underfloor booster, MC and proportioning valve, it doesn't know or care if it lives under the floor or under the hood. all you need to work out is the pedal and bracketry.

The price for the combination valve is $99.95. Also available is a Mounting Bracket for $21.95. http://www.mpbrakes.com/br1260n.htm. This bracket works for a GM master cylinder. I don't know if it will fit a Ford master cylinder.
Look at the whole site www.mpbrakes.com.
Look at street rod parts, as well as Ford parts.
BTW, that combination valve is a GM part. You may be able to do better on the price from a local parts house.

On various F100s I've used the unit from a 78 Ford Van, early 70s Volare, and another Ford pickup, 70s era, much like the 78 van unit.
The Ford master/booster mounted lower on the firewall than the Chrysler one.
The inside the cab side was pretty easy to mount. Basically, the 4 bolts through the firewall not only hold the master/booster on, but also the inside pedal assembly.
You only have to grind away some metal to mount the back end of this assembly to the bottom edge of the dashboard.
I mounted mine with one bolt, to the left side of the assembly. This way, by just using one mounting point, you aren't in the way of the column drop.

I am near Dover. I went to Kahunaville for an all Ford show one Saturday last summer. I usually find enough local events to keep me busy. I went to Harrington two seasons ago, big show there.
My latest addition is F150 Harley Davidson bucket seats. I'll update the gallery, when I get it finished.

Hey MY1956F100, Checkout Classic Perfromance Products at www.classicperfrom.com
They have the remote brake fluid reservoir in either billet aluminum or in plastic. They have other items too. Check'em out. I bought my power brake adapter from Sacramento Vintage Ford at www.vintage-ford.com . I usually shop the big items at Sacramento Vintage Ford because I live in S.F. and it's just a 90 minute ride. The adapter is made for a Mustang II booster/master cylinder combo, which I bought from my loacl parts house. If you get the frame mounted brake system, don't do what i did and cut out an access hole in the floor. It weakens the floor a little. Live and learn I guess. Hope this helps. Have fun

Hi... back to the Industrial Chassis setup, I can't find the receipt but I seem to remember something like about $280. I could be off a little. I think the midfifties unit is either the same or similar, but they use what looks like a GM master cyl rather than the Ranger unit. Same size bore, 7/8". What I said earlier about a proportioning valve I meant to say combo valve. Hey think about this, the way the OEMs build cars and trucks they always loop the brake lines into a couple of spirals as they come up from the frame to the combo valve. I think they do this so as the cab flexes while going down the road the lines have some give and don't become stressed. This looks like a good idea to me. I have seen many street rods built with the lines running up from the frame as they come from the wheels and then straight up to the combo valve. It looks cleaner but I'm not so sure this is the way to go. What do you think?
