squealing when the hubs are locked

I put the truck in four wheel drive the other week when we got hit with all that snow, and the driver's side wheel was squealing all the while it was locked and in 4 wheel drive. After I took it out of 4wd, the squealing stopped. Is there a bearing that is only used in 4wd? If so is it easy to replace? Any experience with this would be most helpful.
Thanks for the input.

Haven't had my superduty apart yet but there should be a torington bearing inside the spindle where the axle shaft comes threw. Shouldn't be that big a deal to change.
