I was searching on another ford site, and I guy ran into the same problem as me (actually a few diff guys) When you slap in a nice flowmaster on a stock setup retaining both factory cats, you get very little noise, A guy went on to say that after having High flow cats put on, it made a huge difference in sound and performance. And here I thought it was just me!
When I bought my first Bronco it had a nice deep tone to it with not much exhaust noise (Just right). I soon discovered that the dealer had taken the muffler off and just did a straight pipe from the converter back. Sounded nice by I'm domesticated now and use a quiet exhaust on all of my Broncos now.
I am currently running a SI/DO catback system with a 40 series Flowmaster and Bassani headers. The headers changed the tone, but didn't make it noticeably louder. I definitely noticed a difference in sound from stock, although it isn't nearly as loud as I would like. I removed the 2nd cat without much change in sound. The next step is going to be a high flow Y pipe to replace the first cat and hopefully that will give it the sound I am looking for.
wakeboard.... I like the color of your bronco! I have an all white one, soon the grille will be white to match, But I've always liked that deep burgandy color!!
