hi, i have a 2001 f250 v10 and after driving the truck for about 10 miles the engine surges and goes to about 2000 rpm then you hear a click and it goes back to normal then procides back to around 2000 again and this usually goes on till i shut it off its not to much fun on ice or at a stop sign though does anyone have any ideas
thanks rob
There are 2 things that I think can cause this:
(1) The IAC (Idle Air Control) valve is carboned up and "sticks" when the AC compressor is engaged. Do you notice this only when the AC compressor is running. The only time the compressor is not engaged, by the way, is when the switch in the dash is dialed to - OFF, VENT, or FLOOR...FYI
(2) The EGR (Exhaust Gas Return) valve or its components; such as the EGR solenoid or the EGR differential pressure feedback sensor.
yes your right no check engine light but i have not tried turning off the heater when this happens and also it never happened in the summer only when it got cold and i was using the heat so i will check that out thanks alot
