Yes I did a search.
My question is how do you get the spindle off book says just to tap it with a rubber mallet but didn't work so what now? Second is there bearings behind there? Third how much play should there be between the axle and the spindle I know the axle will move in and out but how much side to side and up and down should it move? Thanks guys.
here is a thread describing how to get the spindle off http://www.fordtrucks.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=323383
As far as axle movement when the hug is on then you shouldn't have any movement up, and down, with the hub removed yes the outer end will move around some, and yes there is a bearing inside the spindle at the back closest to the knuckle it is a needle type bearing.
yes it will hit the sides of the spindle that is normal but doesn't mean that the bearing is good you still need to get the spindle off, and look at it., and if it's bad be sure to check the stub shaft to make sure the place that bearing runs isn't worn down or torn up
about the only way to check that bearing with the spindle installed is try, and move the axle from the joint with the hub installed if it moves then the bearing is bad.
be sure to repack that bearing back there if you take the spindle off, as a lot of people forget about this one and a few months down the road major roblems will arise.
