Exclamation Tulsa FTE folk- I need your help. Read this and post back.

Hello all you Tulsa folk-

Here's what I need your help with. I'd like for all of you guys
and gals to read this and tell me three things:

Where in Tulsa do you live? (like near a landmark/major intersection, etc.)

What would be a good location for you to meet folks at? (like a family-type
restaurant or park.)

What day(s) and time(s) would work best for you to do this? GTG's are
informal, last from 1-4 hours and family- wife/husband and children are
welcome.

Depending on the turnout and warmer weather we might do
Celebration Station or something like that soon. I know a lot of us big kids
(myself for one) would like that. Or maybe a picnic/BBQ or day at the lake.

I'll keep tabs on this thread, because I'm looking for three enthusiastic
people who like getting things together to help me do this, then possibly
become City Coordinators based on your efforts and performance. So,
dive in, help me get folks who post in this forum from Tulsa to meeting
locally, and you'll have my nomination! Let's do this.

Spring will be here before we know it. Let's get things going now, and have
one outstanding event after another!

And remember, boyz-n-grrlz; like Master Yoda says:

Try not! Do, or do not. There is no try.

Mark,

Count me in...I'm north of Tulsa (Owasso).

There's a couple of places up here that aren't too bad and have good parking such as McAlisters and Rib Crib.

Otherwise, Celebration Station or Incredible Pizza in Tulsa would be great family spots. I like the idea of having a BBQ at a park or lake!

Anything I can do to help.....I'll be there. I just want to see the Oklahoma chapter turn into something.

I'm from up here in Owasso. They are a couple parks that we probably could use in the warm weather season. One of them is between 76th and 86th street north on 123rd. There is a pond for fishing, playground equipment for the kids, geese that like to steal your bread. Another one is right on 169, has a small gazebo. I'm not sure if they allow cookout there though. Of course there is also the old stanby-- Sonic. About a mile north is a BBQ place called Legends. We like to go there at least once a month. They get crowded at dinner, so that would have to be a mid afternoon deal. Friday & Satrday night they have live music.

I'm up in Owasso also. I'm right around the Super Wally Mart and can see the new water tower from my front porch. That's 96th Street & Garnett. As MikeB 88 said, there are several parks in the vicinity. Also, when the weather gets warmer there is Mohawk Park, located at the Tulsa Zoo. Lots of wide open free parking, large stocked fishing ponds for the kiddos(& bid kiddos) and barbeque stands for grillin' some burgers and dogs on a warm sunny day!!!

If we wanna have some get togethers near a lake there is Skiatook Lake about 20min north west of Owasso. They have sandy swimming beaches and lots of parking and picnicing spots. Oologah lake is not far, but I have not found a lot of large parking areas for a cookout there yet. Also, Claremore Lake, has an awesome parking and playground area. Very clean and well kept, newer improvements. Very family oriented.

And there is always the Tulsa International Raceway if we wanna have meets there on special race days; like the MidAmerica Shelby meets!

Hello all! Hope all is well. . .

Gee Mike, when did Owasso get a Fuddruckers?? Where is that at?

I agree with the comments about Owasso, there are alot a places there that would be good. Besides, I hear ALOT about "Legends" BBQ, although I've never been there.

I think the lake idea is great, and maybe when it warms up, we can talk Ron into bringing his 52' boat... hehe oh, I mean '52 boat! And anybody else who has a boat would obviously be more than welcome to bring it. As I was telling Mark friday, Claremore lake would be a great place to gtg simply because of the atmosphere and surroundings. It is VERY well maintained. I think Mark may have even volunteered to bring steaks for a cook out at the lake??? j/k

Here is what I propose and to give credit where credit is due, Mark sortof gave me this idea friday... let's shoot for a Feb. gtg at the Incredible Pizza at 71/Memorial. For a number of reasons, one being everybodies kids who come would probably love it and secondly. . . two words. . . go carts! I thought it would be fun for the OK. Chapter to see who is "King (or Queen.. ehem.. Alice ) of the Chapter/Track".

Maybe when it begins to warm up, we can check into seeing how much it would be to maybe rent the drag strip for a few hours (if they do this) for us, though this could get expensive.

Now, to stay on topic:
Mark: Since this chapter seems to suffer from an extreme case of modesty, I will give my nominations for Regional Coordinators (sp?):
Northeast. . . Alice
Owasso/North Tulsa. . . Ron or Dakota Tim
BA/Wagner. . . Mark or Jim (if we can coax him back here)
OKC area (gee. . . that's a pretty broad area). . . Ken

Can I get a second?

Everybody is free to nominate whomever they believe can devote the time needed to fill the requirements which granted aren't much but still they need to be able to handle emails and phone numbers. Second, they need to accept. Therefore Alice, Ron, Tim, Mark, Jim and Ken, if you wish to accept you need to post as such, if you choose to reject then do so and we'll go easy on you when we beat you at the next gtg. j/k.

Make nominations asap and get them second"ed" by atleast one ACTIVE member of the Chapter by the end of January. The first (or second... hehe) day of Feb. I will post a poll for the different areas and we shall vote.

Cool? Great!

STan

P.S. Hey Mark, do YOU have a dollar???

Stan,
Our new Fuddruckers in on 96th street north. Right in front of Lowes. They opened just in time for Christmas. We haven't tried Pizza Incredible yet. That place sounds pretty amazing from what I hear. Any body been to the Throw roll place yet? I've heard that the chicken there isn't that good.

I've heard of the Throw roll place, and too have heard it wasn't all it's cracked up to be. I suppose it's just the novelty?

I see, well, I seldom venture out as far as 96th street.

Incredible Pizza is really pretty fun, well the go-carts atleast. Last time I played ski-ball alot though and it was pretty fun.

Exclamation Yep. Nothing like cutthroat gocart racing!

Sounds great to me guys!

Stan, I have a buck- or two...

I agree with you on those "modest" folk- I would like to
ask Dakota Tim to lend me a hand with Tulsa, though.
And at least one more person, maybe MikeB 88? that's
gonna be a good sized area to cover. Ken could pick
someone to help him too. But all in all, we've got some
great folks to do this.

I think the race track guys might get enough of a laugh
outta our rigs- they might just let us do it for the sheer
lunacy of it... you think? I'd love to see the video and the
burnout- if indeed Spud the Dodge D-50 could do one...

If we could get Jim to head up Coweta/Wagoner/Muskogee
that'd be good- I nominate him to this important task! Alice-
contact Jim and see if you can talk him into reconsidering.
In fact, I ask all of us to contact Jim and let him know we
ain't fiddin' to put up wit' this mess of him stepping away.
He's got work to do now. And along with me he is the Co-Old
Fart of the Chapter- one of the Ancients! He can be revered for
his timely wisdom. Me, I can be laughed at for my senility!

So there you have it kiddos... the whole show. In the immortal
words of "Married With Children"'s "Al Bundy"-

"Let's Rock!"

I think that 'Ol Blue could do a burn out, though everybody would have to grab the back bumper and lift it up some... who know's I might get a chirp out of it. Perhaps the same method would work for Spud???

Nobody has made a comment on the Incredible Pizza idea... what do you all think??

STan

P.S. I'm in the midst of trying to get Jim to reconsider. We'll see (there's still hope).

I am still awaiting a second for the rest of my nominations, along with an acceptance from those listed and seconded.

Do I need to jump up and down??

Actually Stan,

I think they want you to stand on your head and do a little breakdancing.

Sooooo, you and Mark are exchanging 60 foot timeslips now??? Who has the slowest time??? I have a pet snail I'd like to put in the competition too!

As for the Incredible Pizza statement; Yes, I like the idea...but you will have to give me enough time to drive from Tulsa to Owasso to get my kids and then return to Tulsa. (Don't worry, I'll plan ahead)

OK...I guess I accepted, who's next???
