Don't Forget Ford with exploding gas tanks in mustang and Ford explorer tires and the new GTs problems, lol. This recall only involved 5 crashes and did not say anything about any fatalities. How many people lost their lives with the explorer firetstone tires??

Do those wheels stay on during the fire?

http://www.wesh.com/news/4003751/detail.html

Click on the video. You have to watch a few seconds of a darned commercial first.

In fairness, the new models seem not to have the problem, but I would not feel comfortable with a 2000 F-150, Expy or Lincoln Nav. Think there will be a recall of all 600,000 affected trucks? At least the fires seem to be happening when the trucks are parked, engines off and no one in them. Those Dodges are rolling with folks inside. But the video shows a F-150 parked inside a garage catching the house on fire!

All recalls suck and I wish all the manufactures would get it together. But at the same time I'm a realist and understand things happen. The big question is what does this do to Dodges bottom line next year. I have no idea what ball joint replacement cost but I'll guess $1000. Correct me if I'm wrong. $1000 x 600,000 = 600,000,000 or about 1/4 of DC profits this year. Ouch.

I remember about twenty years ago or so, 20/20 did a show on Ford U-HAUL trucks with rear wheels coming off. This was happening on the dually equipped U-HAULS and I don't remember what the cause was, defective lug nuts, or something to that effect.
