7.3 oil leak
I have a 96 F250 c/c. I just bought it about 4 months ago from a company and seemed to be in good condition. Had 217000 miles on it. Inow have noticed for the past month that I am leaking oil.Thought it was the rear seal but after removing the dust cover over the flywheel and found the inside of that to be dry I knew it was coming from elsewhere. Thanks to this site i think I have found it to be at the front of valley of engine on what I assume is the HPOP.My question is, how intense is this to repair and does anyone know a kinda play by play way of fixing this? reading this forum I am probably sure it is the seals or o-rings Your help would be greatly appreciated!!

When I first bought my 99' two years ago I thought I had a leak in the same place. After further investigation I discovered that a small amount of oil I had spilled while changing my oil had been running down the back of the engine. It looked just like my rear seal was leaking. Maybe this is the same problem your having and nothing serious.

Thanks for the reply kilroy99, but I was loosing about a gallon a week. I did decide to just jump in and go for it. I found a leak at the HPOP pressure lines and after a visit to the local ford dealership to purrchase the o-rings($24.00 for 3 small o-rings!!) I thought i had found and fixed my leak ...NOT!!! ..I drove it yesterday for about 125 miles and noticed the valley had another puddle of oil in it (was dry and clean after the repair ). Sooooo back to the inspections and flipping through these pages to see what else it might be. There are no visible leaks at the top of engine so I will just go exploring again.Anyone have any ideas I am open for suggestions..Thanks

ICP= Injection Control Pessure sensor.
As for the HPOP leak,The service kit is available by ordering part number 1843716C91 from your International® dealer or Service Parts supplier. Follow the instructions to the "T". You must remove the pump and to install the ferry plug oring, if you do it on the engine you will loose a small ball bearing and it will not build pressure. Cost should be 15-$20

Check your engine oil cooler. My 95 is leaking there and I havnt got around to fixing it yet (carrys engine oil and coolant). It is the cylinder right above the oil filter attaching to the filter mounting housing and goes right alongside the block, uses o rings, costs about 40 bucks from ford for the parts. But if your oil is running down the valley then this is likely not your problem.

I can't believe you would pay a couple hundred dollars for an ICP o-ring leak! I busted the connector of the ICP on my dads truck when my wrench slipped when tightening the fuel filter cap. Bought a brand new ICP from a dealer (bout $130) and replaced it myself in about 3 minutes. Only cool thing was that with the ICP not connected, the tranny shifted like a pro stock race tranny...I was getting chirps going into second gear.
