Rim's & Tires

ok, so i've done a lot of searching and i've come up with a few answers but even more questions.

what was the stock rim size on the 1968 F250 camper special? i've heard 16, 16.5, etc. how wide were they?

finally, could i fit a 285/75R16 tire on there? it sounds like that's the largest tire that i can fit without having to lift the truck. thanks again.

First off is your truck a 4x4 or a 4x2. A 285/75/16 would fit a 4x4 pretty easily but probably not a 4x2. I would go with a 265/75/16 max for a 4x2. Most 250's that I have seen have 16.5 rims but I have seen 16's. Stock width is only about 6/7 inches.

the truck is a 4x2. according to the research that i've done a 285 will fit but of course i'd need to buy new wheels. anyways, thanks for all the help and i'm sure i'll have more questions later. if anyone else has any input into this topic, feel free to join in.

The reason I question 285's fitting is because I was running 275/60/15's on the front of my half ton. They had 3 5/8's backspacing on 10 in wide wheels. With this set up the tires stuck slightly outside of the wheel wells and was very close to rubbing under suspension flex and bounce. The track width and height is not that different if at all. If a tire that is slightly narrower and alot shorter was as close as mine, I would highly doubt that it would fit and not rub. I am almost positive that it would fit in the back because I have seen a few trucks with 33x12.5 on the back before, with proper offset wheels. Just a little more in sight. Peep in if any body else knows otherwise.

well, obviously, i'm no expert since i'm the noob here. i've done some searching on the board and people have said that that's what they've been able to fit. of course, the never mentioned if it was two or four wheel drive. i contacted 4wheelparts.com and they also said that size would fit and they did know it was a 2wd. i don't know what the stock offset is on the F250 but the wheels in question from 4wheelparts are 4" i believe. thanks for the info...10mm isn't all that much different anyway. if it's enough difference to save the hassle i'll probably look into them.
