Shifting problem with standard transmission

We have a new Escape 4 cyl. with about 700 miles and it has been back to the shop twice. At some times it will not go into any gear, or go into 2nd but not 1st, setting on level ground it doesn't matter. Leave it for while come back and no problem. It's a great little SUV, good mileage, roomy for it's size and fair pep for a 4 cyl. The clutch catches at the bottom and YES we do use the clutch. The dealership is scratching there heads as well. Any feedback?

Shifting problem with standard transmission

I saw a similar situation on a Mazda Tribute based site, I'm sorry though I cannot remember which one. Maybe this will set you on path to correcting the problem.
