About two weeks ago I was coming to a stop to make a left turn. My '95 with an automatic trans shuddered and then died. It started right back up.
Christmas morning we were going to breakfast, I pulled out of the motel parking lot and couldn't go more than 10 miles an hour even with my foot to the floor. The RPMs didn't come up. I limped into the restraunt parking lot (2 blocks away) and switched tanks then cruised the lot looking for a place to park. After we ate we tried the truck again and it ran fine. I haven't tried to switch back over to the other tank yet though I did add some conditioner to it.
During the first incident, the air temp was about 50, the second about 25. The fuel filter is about 6 months old, the fuel pump is about 2 months old and the air filter was cleaned about 4 months ago.
I don't think the two are related.
Don't know about the first off hand.
The second sounds like your ebpv is closed. Normal. The EBPV (exhaust back pressure valve), in case you didn't know, closed in cold temperatures to allow the truck to warm up faster. Very annoying. Many people will disable theirs or gut it out. Do a search on this forum for lots of information.

Mike's right about the EBPV, they can even get stuck. Might want to change your fuel filter anyway and test the fuel in the suspect tank. Bad fuel is easy to come by these days. Also clean the fuel regulator screen inside the filter housing when you change the filter.
Thanks for the help. I did the search and found some good info. I am going to look into the e brake mod or may just put a switch on the EBPV to turn it off if it acts up.
