15w40 Choicesfor my F350?

Happy Hoilidays Everyone!

Just wanted your opinions on this difficult question.

I have a 2002 F350 7.3 with 34800 miles on it. I have been using the Power Stroke 15w40 and of course the Motor Craft oil filters every 5000 miles with out any complaints. I know there are three other popular 15w40 oils many use ( Shell Rotella, Chevron Dello, and Mobil Delvac) in their rigs. I'm wondering should I stick with the Power Stroke 15w40 or can any of the others offer more?

Thanks

All of the oils you mentioned are good, and virtually interchangeable for your truck. Some swear by one over the other, but they're all good. It comes down to which one you feel best about using. Knowing that, I buy Delo at Costco in a six pack of gallon jugs for about $35. It's been working well in my truck for nearly 190000 miles.

Thanks for the information. The Costco near me carries the Mobil Delvac for about $35.00.

Yep - what Quad said. They are all pretty much the same - just pick a brand loyalty and go with it. I use Rotella - mainly 'cause my Dad bought a 55gal. drum of it for our diesels - and it's basically free to me!!

She's sitting on 188,XXX right now, and will go over the 200,000 mile mark in the spring. What makes you ask? Did you think she had more?

I was using the motorcraft PSD oil and filter up until last oil change. I too can get the Delo from costco, But the real reason I changed was I found Fletcher's They use the Delo as well. I purchased a lifetime oil change from them for 450.00, for as long asI own the truck, They then rotate/balance the tires every other oil change, top off the fluids and give me an in house 50.00 credit every year, Can you say FREE oil changes after one years use of this thing!!!!! Nice

That is a good deal. Are they using the Motor Craft FL1995 filter?

Kind of a Thread Jack but
Just all the stuff I have been asking over on the Propane Injection thread.
I just assumed that you truck had fewer miles, cuz I am still worried that after I do all this to mine, it would be pointless at 200,000, but if your's takes it just fine at 188,000 then that doesn't make me worry as much.

Sorry guys, back to the real story.

They use the Champion filter. Which makes the FL1995 I believe so basically it is the same filter.
