Here's something that i've found as the ab/ba chapter leader Dick (i wished i would've been able to do some sking down on Big Mountain this year before i moved, but i'm moving on thursday), as far as meets and getting together a lot of the times it will be easier for just a few people to get together rather than a lot, and to do this is easy, if one is dirving through a town of a fellow FTE'er, stop in for a cup of coffee, this works great and this is how i first met Dennis (on my move i'm stopping in calgary and Red Deer for coffee with fellow members), and i will try and stop in as much as i can.

Another way is to let people know about upcoming events you are attending, that would make a weekend overnight trip worthwhile. With this beening said i am going to start be saying that i will be attending/participating (depends weather or not i get the front end finsihed on the SAS on my 81 bogger) in the Mud Bogg on the last weekdend (26/27 weekend i believe) in billings.

Hope this helps.

If you happen to come through Kalispell, give me a call. I imagine it would be an easier drive to just use the Interstate though.

Sorry... guys like me get busy and forget to check back for a few months!

It seems to me that this chapter has grown by leaps and bounds. The last time I posted here, I could count the Drifters on both hands.

Keep it open, they will come...

Nice to see everybody is still around!

BTW, got another new truck, that's what brought me back!

Hi Swanny - good to hear from you again. Is the new truck the '04 in your sig? How do you like the 5.4?
I down-sized a bit - sold my best wood getter (the 88 250 4x4 460) miss it already but still have plenty of Ford pickups around here.

Yeah, the '04 is my new one. This isn't my first 5.4, I also had one in a '99 Expy. I love the engine and the truck. It doesn't have a ton of HP, but it is very adequate. The torque is outstanding - I suspect that it has more to do with the tranny and torque converter than the engine. Ford does claim that 85% of its torque is available at 1,000 rpm... that would explain why the tires break loose so easy!

The 5.4 does seem very snappy compared to the 351 I had in my '95. Still can't touch the 390 I had in my '79 though!

Thanks for the holler!

ok...I am fairly new to fte and have no idea what I should expect from the hpd chapter. I would be inclined to get together from time to time. I drive to kalispell 3 thursdays a month and would enjoy a cup of mojo. But have to leave and drive to Deerlodgeto spend my wonderful fridays at the pen. Working...i promise.

Hi Roger
Welcome to HPD's. Most of our get-togethers are fairly small and informal. Give me a call some Thursday when you'll be up this way and we'll try to round up Dick and Michael for a cup. 755 0568
My contact with the state pen is usually just long distance calls from inmates. I'm a local pastor so it goes with the territory.

Hmmm, I haven't seen a "JOIN" request yet. Click the blue link outside the in the chapter list area, if you are interested in joining.

Have you guys thought about opening your get-togethers to other nearby chapters. I live near spokane washington and I am a member of the northwest chapter. I know many people in the Spokane and northern Idaho regions that would be very interested in your chapter meetings. I personally, would have no problem meeting in kalispell or billings for a group function. You might post in the northwest chapter and see how many would be interested. I would even consider Wyoming as a possible meeting place.

Makes sense to me. Western MT has more in common with the NW chapter than they do the plains states. I'm more inclined to head to Spokane than Billings for events.

This idea was covered & Encouraged very early on in the creation of this chapter.

At the very beginning of creating of both the HPC & the NW chapters, I had a little difficulty making sure that the right states were in the right chapter.

Idaho & the geographic design of the state was a stumbling block.

After discussion with the members,we decided that the final choice was correct.

This is why my comments about the chapter spilt.

Even though changes will be made, the founding chapters to a forum will still be considered ,in mind, as a group unto themselves.

By all means, extend every direction to interact with each other.
