'94 4.0 Check Engine Light
I have a '94 Ranger with the 4.0L motor, with 245000 miles (take that, Toyota fans!). I have been unable to find any info on diagnosing the check engine light (my Chilton manual doesn't list anything). It stays on 100% of the time. Does this info exist anywhere, or am I going to have to make a trip to the dealer to get it looked at?
Also, my manual did make reference to some sort of reset button, but in the location they mention, there isn't one. Any ideas??

You will need to retreve the stored codes from the computer to see why the light came on. If you don't want to buy a book I would sugest the Public Library as a source of info that is free except for the fee to run the copy machine for the page of info. you need.

I have a 95 Ranger. My check engine light came on when I started to teach my boys how to drive. In the owners manual it says the check engine light will come on when the engine is misfiring. With my two boys learning to drive we misfired a lot, mainly due to a clutch/gas coordination problem. The manual also said it will go off eventually after so many times. It's gone off twice but now stays steady.
